Beth Nicholas artist in residence at Wycombe Abbey School, High Wycombe is an emerging artist drawing inspiration from every corner of her life.

In looking at the Japanese aesthetics of Wabi-Sabi Beth searches for the beauty found within the unconventional. From finding a rotting garment by a stream to a stream of consciousness, Beth’s work travels through ethereal abstract landscape style paintings into figurative ink drawings that draw you into the subconscious.

By working with blown ink, oil bar and water washes she seeks to explore the organic fluidity of a natural process where the ink finds a path of it’s own through resistance before being diluted and seeping through into the rest of the canvas.
