Autumn was in full swing when I started drawing these leaves, one of my very favorite seasons, mainly because the leaves are so beautiful. I felt that the leaves in their delicate state linked strongly to my garment with the similarities of the beauty and delicacy in both.

With the following piece I started to look into Haiku which you will see I returned to later in the work. Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry which seemed appropriate in order to link my work more closely with Wabi-Sabi.

There is so much noise
find the beauty in silence
and live in the peace

I have been asked many times whether I used a model for this work, but it was too important to me and to my work that it was myself in the garment that I could not use anyone else. The later images are embroideries using freehand embroidery on my trusty sewing machine- Brenda!
