Three events in May
At The Time
2012
Ink
17 x 19cm
33.5 x 36cm Frame
Tuesday the 15th of May is the Private View for The Parallax Art Fair being held in Chelsea Town Hall on King's Road from 7pm, it is apparently a "Black Tie Event" and they let us know that "Carriages" will be at 9pm (all sounds rather swish to me!) Parallax is an art fair that will feature works by contemporary artists from all over the world. If you would like to come to this Private View do let me know- I think there is a guest list. The Fair goes on till the Friday 18th and on the Thursday there is a Jazz evening which also sounds exciting! There is a bit more information through this link to their website.
Finally I have Open Studios coming up and with over 160 artists and creatives here at Second Floor Studios. It's a really fun event, the private view is on the Thursday 17th May, however I won't be able to make it as I'll be in Chelsea with Parallax. Open Studios is on throughout that weekend, which I will be here for and I'm keeping my fingers crossed the weather is going to be beautiful! Here's a link for more information
If you get the chance to make it to any of the events please come and say "Hi". I've also added a photograph of a completely new piece of work that has not been shown before (it's not even on my website yet!) so you get a taste of what will be on display and what I've been up to recently.

Commission almost finished
I've spent the last couple of months working on a lovely commission for a family in South East London who came to visit me at my open studios in November. I was invited to their beautiful home and we came up with a concept together. Three huge pieces, framed separately at 150 x 47cm, meaning the work would be 130 x 27cm. I thought I'd show you what they are looking like before they get framed!
Jenny Leonard
My friend Jenny Leonard is a very talented artist who does a lot of collage in her work. Jenny recently came to visit me in London and found some pieces I was throwing out and decided to use them in her collages. She blogged about it in December, this is her blog address- well worth a look. http://www.jennyleonard.blogspot.com/

CONVERSATIONS WITH THE ARTIST
I would like to invite you all to come along this Saturday, 26th November 12-4pm when there will be a spotlight on my work at the Debut Contemporary Gallery, 82 Westbourne Grove, London W2. As you may know, a lot of my work features the written word - streams of consciousness that become integrated within the context of each piece. Throughout the day at Debut, I will be working on this aspect of my work. People can even select a piece that they would like to see me working on and have a conversation with me while I work. They can talk to me about anything that comes into their heads, the beauty of my writing being that it is barely legible, so that whatever I write will remain confidential, absorbed into the piece of art it will hold its secret for ever.
Hope to see you there.

Fundraising to get my work "Out there"!
Please help my work go to LA! Art work for sale by brilliant emerging artists from £15!! Every little helps! http://tinyurl.com/c7f77ks
The Debut Contemporary artists were invited to show at OCCCA - having been discovered by their Head of Outreach, Joella March at a unique alternative LA Art Fair which they were showcased at during September 2011, alongside some of LA’s leading artists, curators and art industry heavyweights. During September, the artists attracted attention from the likes of LACE of Hollywood Boulevard and MOCA amongst other galleries from the buzzing Los Angeles art scene. Samir Ceric, Director of London’s Debut Contemporary notes passionately, “I feel this is just the beginning of a very exciting project which has come out of this unique way of collaborating between Debut Artists and art professionals in the industry... One of Debut's very important roles is to serve as conduits of information and opportunities between the Debut collective and community and the art world at large.”
LONDON CALLING - LA
THE LONDON EMERGING ART SCENE HITS ORANGE COUNTY
CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ART
December 21, 2011 – January 12, 2012
This December, an intrepid group of emerging Contemporary British Artists from London’s Debut Contemporary exhibit in LA at The Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) - known to present cutting-edge artwork since 1980.
The roster of artists reads like a who’s who of the young, UK art scene with involvement from Rosie Emerson, Tahnee Lonsdale and Agnetha Sjogren, amongst others. The incredibly talented artists have a wide number of achievements amongst them including Nicola Anthony who has received exhibition sponsorship from Tate Britain, had pieces shown at Tate Modern; Tinsel Edwards who has both Saatchi and Banksy as collectors of her work; and Rosie Emerson who recently exhibited at The Southbank Centre as part of The Women of The World Festival, Somerset House, as well as being featured in Vogue.
Selected by OCCCA Executive Directors and Curators, the flavour is undeniably British. It centres around the culture and vibrancy of the London and LA scenes, with works such as 'Benji' by Victoria Heald which references a pose taken from Antonioni's iconic 1966 film 'Blow-Up' - the epitome of 1960s 'Swinging London'.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about this collective is that in our climate of limited art funding, the artists have taken<> it upon themselves to promote and raise the profile of the London Art scene overseas. They are working collaboratively to come up with creative solutions, opposing the diminution of diversity in art, and extending the reach of UK arts: Fundraising to get as many of the talented artists to LA as possible, to be true ambassadors of the London art scene. They are empowering themselves to create their own opportunities. Find out more on their fundraising platform and Etsy art shop.

I was shaking like a leaf!
We had to do a pitch for our work in front of a camera, it was called an "Elevator Pitch" basically the theory is a pitch that takes as much time as you would have in a lift with a stranger. I decided that I wouldn't do what I normally do, I would get involved immediately and stand up within the first few people. Essentially in my enthusiasm that meant I was the third person up. I took "The Garment" as a prop and tried to tell everyone about my work.
Of course later I regretted standing up SO quickly, I suppose the best thing is to stand up three quarters of the way through, before they run out of time but when you've gleaned as much information as you need and have seen lots of other people shaking like leaves, so that it doesn't feel so bad!
Needless to say I'm not too sure my pitch went very well and I can usually do that sort of thing, I generally really like talking about my work. I didn't give myself enough time to think things through. I learnt a huge amount though and think that I would do much better next time.
Any way went to pick up some work from the framers this week to deliver to Fuimano Fine Art Gallery on the 19th and everything looks beautiful so I'm really happy about that. Here is some of it...
